Is the new Vibe Shore Club at Great Stirrup Cay Worth It?

Vibe Shore Club is one of the newest additions to NCL’s Great Stirrup Cay, and it is not the same thing as the onboard Vibe Beach Club found on many Norwegian Cruise Line ships.

This is an adults-only, extra-cost beach area on Norwegian’s private island in the Bahamas. It comes with upgraded loungers, umbrellas, a dedicated bar, lunch, cabanas, daybeds, and a quieter feel than the main beach areas.

I paid $87 for my day pass, and in this review, I’ll walk through what was included, what worked, what still needs improvement, and whether I thought Vibe Shore Club was actually worth the price.

I also made a full video tour, which is worth watching if you want to see the layout, loungers, food setup, bar, beach, cabanas, and zip line noise for yourself.

The video gives you a closer look at the actual Vibe Shore Club experience on Great Stirrup Cay, including the parts that felt premium and the parts that still felt unfinished.

Quick Verdict: Is Vibe Shore Club Worth It?

Vibe Shore Club is comfortable, quiet compared with the main beach, and definitely more upscale than the free areas of Great Stirrup Cay.

But at $87, I thought it felt a little overpriced in its current state.

The loungers were excellent, the space felt peaceful, and the beach area was nice. But slow bar service, no restroom inside the area, no lockers, and constant zip line noise made it harder to call this a clear win.

If the price is lower on your sailing, or if you really value a quieter adults-only beach day, it may be worth considering. At nearly $90 per person, I’d think carefully before booking.

Getting to Vibe Shore Club

Once you arrive at Great Stirrup Cay, you’ll walk down the new pier and through the visitors center area.

From there, you can hop on the tram to get closer to the heart of the island. On my visit, there was only one tram stop available, although it looked like more stops may be planned as the island continues to develop.

After the tram, you still need to walk about 10 minutes to reach Vibe Shore Club.

Check-in was a little disorganized during my visit, but after confirming my admission, I received a wristband and entered the space.

One thing to know: towels were apparently available at check-in, but I did not learn that until I was leaving. So if that is still the case on your visit, you may not need to bring towels from the ship.

First Impressions

Walking into Vibe Shore Club, the space immediately felt different from the rest of Great Stirrup Cay.

It reminded me of a beachfront area at a high-end hotel. There were palm trees, umbrellas, soft sandy beach space, and large plush loungers that felt much more comfortable than the standard island chairs.

The loungers were one of the biggest positives.

They were soft, supportive, and spaced out well enough to make the area feel more premium. I spent a few hours just relaxing there and honestly did not want to leave.

If your goal is to escape the busiest parts of Great Stirrup Cay and have a more comfortable beach chair for the day, this part of the experience delivered.

Food at Vibe Shore Club

Around 11:30, the lunch buffet opened.

The food was served buffet-style with options like blackened chicken, island fish, sausages, hamburgers, hot dogs, salads, and desserts. I also tried a pineapple upside down cake that was pretty tasty.

Overall, the food tasted good. I especially liked the blackened chicken because it had a nice spicy kick, and the hamburger was moist with good flavor.

The issue was not taste. The issue was consistency.

Trays ran empty pretty often, and the food did not feel dramatically different from what you can get elsewhere on the island. For a paid, adults-only area, I expected the food to feel a little more premium.

I also did not see many vegetarian options beyond the salads, so keep that in mind if that matters for your group.

The condiment setup was also oddly placed at the beginning of the line, which caused confusion and backups. That feels like something NCL could easily improve over time.

Bar Service Was the Biggest Letdown

Vibe Shore Club has a dedicated bar that can make just about any drink you’d expect on the island.

The bartenders were friendly, but the service was slow. Unfortunately, this matched one of my bigger complaints about Great Stirrup Cay overall: bar lines can be a real issue.

There was seat-side bar service available too, but that also felt slow. While I was eating lunch, I saw multiple people come up to the bar asking about drink orders that had been placed more than 30 minutes earlier.

That is not what I would expect in a paid, exclusive area.

For me, this is one of the biggest things NCL needs to address if Vibe Shore Club is going to feel like a premium upgrade.

Cabanas and Daybeds

There are cabanas around the perimeter of Vibe Shore Club, and they vary by size and price.

On my visit, cabana pricing started at around $660 for four guests and included things like a cooler stocked with ice and water, complimentary float mats, and a shower.

There were also daybeds available to reserve, with prices starting around $250.

These could make sense for a group, especially if you want a guaranteed home base for the day. But for me, the standard loungers were comfortable enough that I would not personally feel the need to add a cabana or daybed unless I was sharing the cost with others.

What Still Needs Work

I enjoyed the overall feel of Vibe Shore Club, but there were a few negatives that stood out.

First, there was no restroom inside the area. If you need to use one, you have to leave Vibe Shore Club and walk down the path. For a brand-new paid area, that felt like an odd design choice.

Second, there were no lockers. If you want to leave and explore the rest of the island, you either have to take your belongings with you or leave them at your chair.

Third, the zip lines pass directly over this area in two directions. At this end of the beach, they are low and noticeable. Even as someone who likes zip lines, the constant whirring every few minutes became distracting.

That is probably not something NCL can easily fix, but it is something you should know before booking.

What I Paid

I paid $87 for my Vibe Shore Club day pass.

There was also some confusion about whether my Free at Sea or More at Sea excursion credit applied. On this sailing, it did not apply, and the onboard literature said it would not. But I have seen another sailing where the credit appeared to apply.

That is something NCL needs to clarify better.

Before booking, check your own sailing carefully and do not assume the credit will or will not apply based only on someone else’s experience.

How It Compares to Hideaway Beach at CocoCay

The closest comparison I have is Hideaway Beach at Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day at CocoCay.

It is not a perfect one-to-one comparison, but both are adults-only, extra-cost beach areas on private cruise destinations.

At Hideaway Beach, I have paid closer to $50 to $60. For that price, I got an adults-only beach area, a heated pool, upgraded food that was unique to the area, direct transportation to the entrance, and multiple bars, which helped reduce lines.

Compared with that, Vibe Shore Club came up a little short for the price I paid.

Vibe Shore Club was comfortable and relaxing, but it did not feel as complete or as polished as Hideaway Beach.

Best For and Skip If

Vibe Shore Club is best for cruisers who want:

  • An adults-only beach area

  • A quieter space away from the main crowds

  • Very comfortable loungers

  • Umbrellas and shade

  • A more upscale beach feel

  • A limited-capacity setting

You may want to skip it if you are looking for strong bar service, easy restroom access, lockers, a truly quiet setting, or a big difference in food quality compared with the rest of the island.

You may also want to skip it if the price is high on your sailing and you would be just as happy at the free beach or Great Life Lagoon pool.

Final Verdict

Vibe Shore Club on Great Stirrup Cay is comfortable, attractive, and more relaxing than the busier parts of the island.

I liked the loungers, the shade, the smaller crowd, and the general feel of the space. It did feel more upscale than the free beach areas.

But at $87, I thought it was a little overpriced in its current state.

Slow bar service, no restroom inside the area, no lockers, and the constant zip line noise all held it back from feeling like a fully premium experience.

If the price is lower, or if you really want an adults-only beach space away from the crowds, I can see this making sense. But if you are deciding between this and simply enjoying the free beach or lagoon pool, I would compare the price carefully.

For me, Vibe Shore Club was nice, but not a must-do.
